N8.5bn SCAM: Accused opts for plea bargaining

.... AS the case involving three staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN and some commercial banks over alleged stealing of over N8.5 billion continues, one of the accused persons, Oni Adewale Dolapo has opted for plea bargaining to be let off the hook.entloaded
The accused, who is the fourth defendant through his counsel, Y.A.H Ruba filed application for plea bargaining at the sitting of the court, yesterday, in Ibadan.
The defendants in the case include; Kolawole Babalola, Olaniran Muniru, Toogun kayode Philips, Oni Adewale Dolapo, Afolabi Esther Olunike, and Ademola Ebenezer.

As the court resumed after an adjournment, counsel to the fourth accused person told the court that his client, Oni Adewale Dolapo had mandated him, according to section 270 of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act, 2015, to enter into plea bargaining with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. According to him, the process was near completion.

The counsel, who appeared for the prosecution, Mr. Adebisi Adeniyi, confirmed the position of the counsel to the fourth accused person and submitted that the plea bargaining should be completed and filed before the court in the next adjourned date. But, the counsel to the first defendant Otunba Bolanle Olayinka and counsel to the second and third defendants Barrister Olalekan Ojo  urged the court to adjourn the case until the fourth defendant files his plea bargaining.
