The Nigeria police have arrested two armed robbery suspects who recently robbed and attempted to kill the parish priest of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Okpare-Olomu in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state.
It was gathered that the suspects who were arrested through a tip off were said to have taken one of the stolen laptops of the Catholic Priest for a battery charge when they were nabbed.
A source close to the church revealed that during the process of powering the laptop, the photograph of the priest and his name used as screen saver displayed and this aroused the curiosity of those around to probe further until their instinct proved them right.
According to the source, one of the parish youths who was at the scene alerted some members of the church who in turn alerted the men of the vigilante group in the area who perfected the arrest before handling the suspects over to the Otu-Jeremi police for further interrogation.
Also arrested is the security man attached to parish who was said not to have been on guard on the day of the robbery incident.
Upon interrogation it was discovered that one of the suspects is a son to the security man and the other his son in-law while one is still at large.
When contacted, the IPO of the case told our correspondent that the suspects have been transferred to the Delta state police command as directed by Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zanna.
It could be recalled that on February 11, 2017, a group of armed robbers invaded the Priest Rectory of St. Joseph Parish, Okpare-Olomu in Ughelli South local government area and injured the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Stephen Ekakabor who has since been in coma as his brain was seriously affected.
