Aaron Ramsey says Arsenal’s players are ‘delighted’ to play for Arsene Wenger, as the manager continues to attract speculation over his future.
The Gunners have recently gone through a poor spell of form, prompting some fans to call for the Frenchman to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
While there is no news yet on Wenger’s future at the Emirates, Ramsey says the squad are more than happy to play under their current boss, although they do not know his plans.
“The manager hasn’t said anything about it. He’s our manager and we’re delighted to play for him,” Ramsey told Soccer Saturday ahead of the Monday Night Football game with Crystal Palace.
“He’s been brilliant for us so hopefully we can repay him by finishing off this season strongly and hopefully win something for him.
“As players, we haven’t really discussed it, we just want to go out there and try to win the game so we’re focused and trying to work hard throughout the week to put it right at the weekend.
“We’re professional footballers so we have to go out there and perform as best we can and try and get the results that we want. There’s a lot of things going on at the moment but we have to turn a blind eye to that and concentrate on what we are here to do.”
Arsenal are still in the hunt for a Premier League top-four finish and sit outside the places by four points although they do have a game in hand, as do Manchester United just below the Gunners on goal difference.
